SuperSport United's Mokoena Raring To Go At FIFA World Cup
SuperSport United’s Tebogo Mokoena has finally joined up with the U20 FIFA World Cup squad in South Korea, completing the Head Coach Thabo Senong’s full 21-man contingent for the competition.
Mokoena only landed in Suwon on Monday, May 22, as the player remained behind to help the Tshwane giants to the final of the 2017 Nedbank Cup competition.
However, the 20-year-old has since joined up with the Amajita camp, as his side gears up to play their second group stage encounter against Italy tomorrow, May 22 at the Suwon World Cup Stadium in Suwon.
“I have being itching to get here and I am glad I have finally arrived. Seeing my teammates at the hotel upon arrival just gave me energy, to such an extent that I could not sleep as I was raring to go to training,” Mokoena told the South African Football Association’s official website
“Watching the boys play against Japan was very nerve-wracking because I had a strong belief that we would get three points but it was not to be. We are still in it though and have a chance of getting six points to reach the knockout phase, but we know it will not be easy – against Italy we have to dig deeper than we did when we faced Japan,” the SuperSport United player added.
