Rooney Gives Ross Barkley Some Tips

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he counselled Anglo-Nigerian midfielder
Ross Barkley before England's 4 - 0 thrashing of Lithuania on Friday in a
European Championship qualifier at Wembley.

Although Barkley has had a difficult season with his boyhood club, Everton,
Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson introduced the 21-year-old with 20
minutes left.

''He and Everton hit the heights last season,” said Wayne Rooney to Premier League World.

He hasn't done as well, asthe team haven't recently,''

"But I spoke to him after the game on Friday and the only advice I gave
him was to watch the game from the bench with England.

"He will know how to get into the opposition, where the spaces are.

“That's what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to me when I was young, so you know
where to be when you come on. If it helps, then great.''

Before committing his international future to England, Barkley was
eligible to wear the Nigeria colours through his dad, Peter Effanga.

He is using his mother's maiden name because he does not have a
cordial relationship with his father.
