Danjuma: Good Times Coming
Nasarawa Amazons Believes The Good Times Will Come
Nasarawa Amazons head coach Christopher Danjuma is confident good times are not far off from his side in the Nigeria Women Premier League.
The Super Falcons assistant coach said his club was hitting form, after watching the Lafia Girls inflict a narrow one-nil defeat against Rivers Angels on Wednesday.
He said his wards were fast becoming a side capable of ending the season well after a poor start.
“Certainly by 2013 and going into the 2014 season, we believed we had a squad that should be aiming to win the NWPL title, but there was a mass exodus of our key players, and that means rebuilding again,” the coach well known by admirers as Kurungu told SL10.
Amazons improved their points haul to 33, and moved to third in the highly contested 2013/14 NWPL season.
Danjuma said, after taking the team to 3rd in the ladder so far, and six points adrift leaders Rivers Angels, that his main objective was to make sure the team finish well as the league gets to its business end.
“I believe we'll be able to show the improvement in our group and end the season on a high.
“I'm absolutely focused on building this team for the future and I'd like to be part of it," the ex-Plateau United gaffer said.
He also praised Falconets' stand-in captain, Ebere Okoye for her great efforts in the team's second place feat in the recently concluded FIFA U20 Women's World Cup held in Canada.
“Ebere was a worthy ambassador of our club, we are proud of her. I urge her not to relent, for she has a bright future ahead of her.”
