Sundowns Table Offer For Bafana Defender

Mamelodi Sundowns have tabled an offer for a Bafana Bafana defender, whose services are also being sought after beyond South African borders.

The Siya crew previously revealed that Ajax Cape Town’s Rivaldo Coetzee is a wanted man in both the PSL and by clubs abroad, however, the Urban Warriors have since opted against commenting on these links.

The defender is one of the most highly-rated centre-back at both Ajax and in the Bafana set-up,

As reported a few months ago on Soccer Laduma, Sundowns have shown intent on bringing the player to the Chloorkop-based club.

The Siya crew has since been informed by a source within the Sundowns camp that the CAF Champions League winners went one step further and tabled an offer to Ajax to secure Coetzee’s services at the end of the season.

Masandawana were looking to lure Eric Mathoho to the club, however, after the player put pen to paper on a new contract with Kaizer Chiefs, Sundowns reacted by approaching Ajax for their star centre-back.

As it stands, the offer has not been accepted by Ajax, however, it remains to be seen what may materialise in the coming months.

Coetzee’s contract with the Urban Warriors will expire at the end of June 2017, but the club has an added two-year option and indications are that Ajax will exercise the option and opt against losing the player on a free at the end of the 2016/17 season.
