Mamelodi Sundowns Assessing Zambian Striker
Mamelodi Sundowns have welcomed a talented Zambian young star for training under Coach Pitso Mosimane and his technical team.
After missing out on Zambian striker, Justin Shonga, who has been signed by Orlando Pirates, Sundowns have now invited the talented Lameck Banda for training with Mosimane’s team.
The 16-year-old has been making headlines in Zambia and African football for his breathtaking performances for Nkwazi FC and his country’s junior national teams.
“Lameck Banda has so far played 21 games at Nkwazi FC. He scored three goals, against Power Dynamos, Zanaco and Buildcon FC (respectively). He made four assists against Lusaka Dynamos, Real Nakonde, Nchanga Rangers and Konkola Blades FC,” a source told the Siya crew.
The young star, who has been impressive for his country’s U17 team, was named in Zambia’s senior national team provincial squad under former Kaizer Chiefs striker Wedson Nyirenda, who is their coach, as they were preparing for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.
"The boy is at Sundowns. He is training with the team. He played in their friendly match against Platinum Stars in Germiston today (Friday). He is a 16-year-old boy who is very talented," concluded the source.
