Another Amakhosi Injury Blow, Defender Unlikely To Play Again This Year
Kgotso Moleko Is Unlikely To Play Again For Kaizer Chiefs This Year
Kaizer Chiefs’ injury woes seem to be getting worse, with Kgotso Moleko the latest player to be ruled out with a long-term setback.
Moleko has taken on the role of first-choice right back after Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s injury ruled him out for several months, but Steve Komphela is now left with a tricky situation as another right back is ruled out.
The 28-year-old damaged his knee ligament during the recent Macufe Cup win over Bloemfontein Celtic, and it now appears that he will be out for up to two months, meaning that he is unlikely to play again until after the Christmas break.
An update on the club’s official website stated, “Full-back Kgotso Moleko suffered a knee ligament in the Sparta Macufe Cup last weekend. Moleko will be in a brace and will be out for six to eight weeks.”
Chiefs have had a bad time with injuries this season, with Mphahlele, Tsepo Masilela, Lorenzo Gordinho, Teenage Hadebe, Emmanuel Letlotlo and Gustavo Paez all still out of action, and it will no doubt be giving Komphela a headache going into the clash with Mamelodi Sundowns next week.
