Lebese & Manyisa Among 12 Debutants This Weekend

12 Players Made Their Debuts In The MTN8 This Weekend

A total of 12 different players made their competitive debuts for new clubs in this past weekend's MTN8 clashes, including Mamelodi Sundowns' big-name duo.

Neither George Lebese nor Oupa Manyisa made it into Masandawana's starting XI as Pitso Mosimane went for the tried and tested, but they were brought on to no avail in the second half as the Brazilians went down 1-0 to Maritzburg United.

Meanwhile, all of the other clubs in the tournament – except Golden Arrows – gave at least one debut in the first fixtures of the 2017/18 season, with some having more successful runouts than others.

Daylon Claasen impressed for Bidvest Wits while Slavko Damjanovic was shown a red card, and Lyle Lakay did well for Cape Town City ahead of Ayanda Patosi's second-half showing.

Bhongolethu Jayiya was unable to change Kaizer Chiefs' fortunes as they lost 1-0 to SuperSport United, while former Amakhosi man Siyanda Xulu helped Maritzburg see out the game against his former club, Sundowns.

I have repeatedly said it over time, i would have preferred to lose Lebese than any of the players in the Chiefs camp. it is one of those good business decisions. Big up Steve et el.
