Reports: Komphela Chases Ghanaian, Seeks Maritzburg Reunion
Steve Komphela Apparently Wants A Reunion With Mohammed Awal At Kaizer Chiefs
According to reports coming out of Ghana, Kaizer Chiefs are looking to try and sign former Maritzburg United defender, Mohamed Awal, from Asante Kotoko.
The 29-year-old spent time working with Komphela during their time together at the Team of Choice and Ghanasoccernet.com say that the Amakhosi head coach is eager to try and bring him to Naturena.
Chiefs are on the lookout for new players following the second player clearout in two seasons, although they have also been heavily linked with a move for Zimbabwean defender, Teenage Hadebe.
Awal has played for Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, Morocco’s Raja Casablanca and his current club since leaving Maritzburg in 2015 and nearly made a move to the Russian club, Arsenal Tula, before it fell through due to a problem with his documents.
The Siya crew will look into Awal’s situation and see if there is any truth to the rumour that Chiefs are trying to bring him on board ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
