Reports: Komphela Chases Ghanaian, Seeks Maritzburg Reunion

Steve Komphela Apparently Wants A Reunion With Mohammed Awal At Kaizer Chiefs

According to reports coming out of Ghana, Kaizer Chiefs are looking to try and sign former Maritzburg United defender, Mohamed Awal, from Asante Kotoko.

The 29-year-old spent time working with Komphela during their time together at the Team of Choice and Ghanasoccernet.com say that the Amakhosi head coach is eager to try and bring him to Naturena.

Chiefs are on the lookout for new players following the second player clearout in two seasons, although they have also been heavily linked with a move for Zimbabwean defender, Teenage Hadebe.

Awal has played for Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, Morocco’s Raja Casablanca and his current club since leaving Maritzburg in 2015 and nearly made a move to the Russian club, Arsenal Tula, before it fell through due to a problem with his documents.

The Siya crew will look into Awal’s situation and see if there is any truth to the rumour that Chiefs are trying to bring him on board ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

@Khosi63 Good point mate. I agree with you there. Motaung should just get rid of Khompela and the person responsible for spotting talent with immediate effect before spending more recklessly on settlements over useless players

29 years is too old for Amakhosi. Infact Amakhosi is the heart beat of the Bafana. SO this thing of buying more foreign players and releasing our very own youngsters is totally out of line. this policy of Amakhosi's foreign players should change in order to help bafana Bafana to become Banna Banna

SK, make sure that the new players you are targeting for next season knows how to score goals and to defend diligently and efficiently. No player will don a Chiefs jersey if he is not going to deliver.

Stivovo for you. This reminds me Bibey Mutombo era at Orlando Pirates who brought the entire Leopards at Mayfair but still did not get anything. Maybe a good move lets wait and see.

The whole Chiefs management and the Coach they are all very confused it terrible it clear that Chiefs and Khomphela are a match made in heaven they all love mediocre players as they are all mediocre managers and mediocre coach. They must change Kaizer Chiefs fc to Kaizer Mediocre fc.

@majasp and they say their signing policy is more of a business approach. they don't want to buy players but they are willing to make settlement for players with two or three years remaining on their contracts some of whom never even really played for the team. That sounds like very bad business decisions. The money they are spending on settlement s is the money they should have used to buy quality players.
