Another Injury Blow For Serero

Thulani Serero Will Not Play In The Europa League Against LAzio

By Soccer Laduma - Sep 14, 2017 11:36 AM

South African midfielder, Thulani Serero, will not be able to help Vitesse in the UEFA Europa League this evening due to another injury problem.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a good start to life with his new club in the Netherlands, however missed their game before the international break and couldn’t finish the 3-0 victory over Excelsior over the weekend.

It was reported earlier in the week that Serero – who didn’t play for Stuart Baxter amid concerns about his hamstring – was a doubt for his side’s clash with Lazio this evening, and it has now been confirmed that he won’t be available for selection.

Henk Fraser, Vitesse’s head coach, told Voetbal International that the former Ajax Amsterdam man would not be available, calling it ‘unfortunate’ as they prepare for their first ever UEL group stage game.

It remains to be seen how long Serero will be out for with his current knee injury, although both he and his head coach will be hoping that he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

This is very unfortunate for Serero, I hope he gets well sooner. As for Bongani Zungu, he'd be having a feel of playing Europa league football tonight but he opted to play for the League 1 newbies in France. signing a four year deal nogal, wat if they get relegated by the end of the season

Thulane Serero just like Jack Wilshire is immensely talented but cursed with injuries. Imagine how far this aforementioned players would be in their careers were they not always derailed by injuries. I feel there's something that lacks in their bone structure that makes them so injury prone compared to your average player.
