Mokoena Being Trained For Permanent Bafana Post?
Aaron Mokoena Is Being Tipped For A Permanent Role With Bafana
Aaron Mokoena, Bafana Bafana’s most capped player of all time, is believed to be in training for a permanent position within the national team going forward.
‘Mbazo’ finished his international career with 107 caps to his name, and is one of several former Bafana players currently being roped in by Stuart Baxter as the nation’s hopes of reaching Russia 2018 hang by a thread.
Mokoena was featured in the team photo ahead of Bafana’s impressive 3-1 win over Burkina Faso over the weekend as they kept their hopes alive for Russia 2018, and it appears that SAFA is keen to bring in a number of ex-players in an attempt to turn around their fortunes.
It now remains to be seen whether the former Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth man will be part of the setup when South Africa face Senegal in two crunch games next month, but as things stand, he is expected to be on board for the camp.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Mokoena is seen as a potential long-term replacement for current team manager, Barney Kujane, when the time comes for the latter to move on.
