FC Barcelona Chief: We Are Ready To Sign Philippe Coutinho In January, But...
An FC Barcelona chief has admitted the Catalan club is ready to try to sign Brazil international Philippe Coutinho in January, but before they do so, they will need to do one thing.
Premier League outfit Liverpool rejected multiple bids from the Blaugrana for the playmaker in the latest transfer window, but are expected to have another fight on their hands at the turn of the year.
Barca CEO Oscar Grau has revealed that the club will be going back in for Coutinho should the coaching staff want him, but will need to release a few players first.
"We are ready for buying Coutinho in the winter market or any player the technical staff requests," Grau said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
"But it is important to adjust ourselves, so if there have to be arrivals, there must be exits as well.
"We're presenting figures for this season which are the highest of any club in the world.
"No other teams, even in the NBA and NFL, reach these numbers. The club is on track to hit its target by 2021."
The 25-year-old has made six appearances for the Anfield club so far this season, scoring three goals and assisting one further strike.
