Komphela: It’s Crunch Time For Chiefs

Steve Komphela Says It's Crunch Time For Kaizer Chiefs Now

By Soccer Laduma - Mar 20, 2017 06:02 PM
Steve Komphela has bemoaned the amount of draws that his side have been involved in this season, with the 2-2 stalemate with Baroka FC being their third in four games.

The Amakhosi are still in the running for the Absa Premiership title at this stage, however, they were dealt a blow as they dropped points against the team rooted to the bottom of the table.

Baroka scored two goals – including a brilliant solo effort from Mxolisi Kunene – for the first time in a league game since back in October, picking up their first point at home in nearly a month.

Now, with a busy month and a clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on the horizon, Komphela says that the club will remain calm as they look to stay in contention for the league trophy.

Speaking to the club’s official website he said, “Our strength is to play with the ball at our feet with some good passing movements, and every time we did that, we threatened them… It is crunch time in the league and every point is important. We will remain calm. The league is far from decided. We will never give up.

“The supporters were magnificent. They deserved the three points.”

On the topic of their numerous draws this season (nine - the fourth highest amount in the league), Komphela said, “That’s too many. We should have won at least a few of those games. We need to improve on this.”

Chiefs will now have some time off between games, with their next fixture coming on April 1 against Masandawana. Sundowns are just two points behind Chiefs but have four games in hand on them.

Do you think Kaizer Chiefs should open their cheque book for Deolin Mekoa?

@fisto vs zebraditor u might hav been successful to persuade other khosi fans to turn their back to the team they adore, n insult our heros(players), but u will never get that to me. At the end of the dau drawing with Baroka daznt mean we will never win anything. There ar many more games left to win the league.... Thats start on 1st April

I can c everyone want to have a say to the biggest team... In fact evn opposition want to sau something if things ar not going wel at Phefeni. but one thing I know is that Ibrahimovic Paez will silence a lot of critics on the first of April. Ramos Gordinho will be there to put that Nursey Cow to his place....

I wish there were a number of teams like Baroka FC who know how to frustrate fau, if this is what @Vongani vs dunudunu/rats need to remain disciplined.

@sizweezz, no..no..a change to the technical team will not be a good idea at the moment, yes, you are correct, fau supporters are stuck with Prof Komphela till the end of the season.

The biggest problem with Kompela he listens to these empty tins, now they want Maluleka, yesterday it was Eggstein, before yesterday it was Buchanan and who knows what they will want tomorrow. Baxter called these things idiots for a reason, you will never success as long as you are listening to them.

Cowmpela previously coached teams like Free State Star,,, Platinum Stars,, Maritziburg United and now at Cowzer Thieves but with all those teams he. Had never won any single game against downs and for him beating down is something that won't happen anytime soon,,,,,, maybe it could happen in the WORLD to come
