Erick Mathoho This Weekend's Top Ball-Winner
Despite dropping points against Baroka FC this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs’ Erick Mathoho can take credit for a fine performance that saw him take his place as one of the standout players this weekend.
Mathoho opened the scoring for the Amakhosi in a 2-2 draw against the relegation threatened team at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. However, it wasn’t only his work at the other end of the pitch that stood out.
No player won the ball on more occasions than Mathoho (22) and his ability to play the ball out from the back was also showcased as he made 30 successful passes.
It goes to show that Mathoho’s contribution towards Steve Komphela’s team extends beyond that of a traditional centre back and that he can serve with distinction in any area of the pitch. However, when it comes to winning the ball, he was still able to count himself amongst the best players in the league, when it comes to the numbers, this weekend.
Joining Mathoho as this weekend’s top ball-winners are Travis Graham (13), Ebrahim Seedat (19) and Bevan Fransman (22).
