Pirates Quiet On Player Arrest, Charges Dropped
Charges Against Orlando Pirates' Bernard Morrison Have Been Dropped
Charges against Orlando Pirates attacker, Bernard Morrison, have been dropped after the player was arrested earlier this week.
Morrison, 23, was taken in on Tuesday before a court appearance the following day after being accused of what the police referred to as armed robbery, however, he has now been released.
It was alleged that Morrison and two others stole a car and money from a football agent, but the legitimacy of the case was brought into question after all of the charges were dropped and the docket was sent back to court for withdrawal.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo, confirmed that the player was arrested earlier this week, but that the case has been withdrawn.
Masondo told the Siya crew, “The complainant came to withdraw the case. He was arrested on Tuesday and taken to court on Wednesday.”
The club have stayed quiet on the issue, but it is thought that Morrison – who hasn’t played a league game since November – is now back available for selection.
