Chiefs Drop Points Against Relegation-Threatened Baroka

Absa Premiership Full-Time Report Baroka v Kaizer Chiefs 18 March 2017

Absa Premiership

Result: Baroka 2-2 Kaizer Chiefs

Date: 18 March 2017

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Baroka in their Absa Premiership encounter at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Baroka got off to a bright start in the early exchanges and registered the first shot on target in the third minute.

Chiefs took the lead in the sixth minute much against the run of play after some sloppy defending by the home side when Bernard Parker's square low ball into the area was easily tapped in by Eric Mathoho.

Baroka responded in excellent fashion and were level three minutes later when Sepana Letsoalo fired home an inviting cross from the right.

Bakgaga gradually grew in confidence and put Chiefs' defence on the back foot on a number of occasions but a mixture of poor-decision making and wasteful finishing ensured the scores remained level.

Chiefs started to find their rhythym towards the end of the first-half and were presented with their fare share of opportunities to regain the lead, but were unable to convert any with Chirambadare coming closest with a vicious strike which narrowly went past the post in the 36th minute.

The visitors were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half-time when Olaleng Shaku was adjudged to have brought down Tsepo Masilela in the area. Parker stepped up and duly converted to give his side the lead.

Chiefs consolidated their defensive movement off-the-ball in the second-half which restricted Baroka's goalscoring opportunities.

Tshabalala was at the heart of most of the Chiefs moves as the visitors started to create more and more clear cut opportunities to further extend their lead.

Baroka came close to having levelled the scoring via efforts from Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali and Jacky Motshegwa, with the former guilty of missing an absolute sitter from within the six-yard area.

Komphela opted for an all-out attack as he introduced William Twala, Gustavo Paez and George Lebese in quick succession as he looked to put the game to bed.

Substitute Mxolisi Kunene showed his class when he intercepted a ball from Lucky Baloyi in the midfield before he went on a surging run and slotted past the hapless Khune.

Both sides threw numbers forward in search of the winner, but neither side could find break the deadlock as the two sides shared the spoils.

Here's how they lined up:

Baroka XI: 30.  Masuluke, 18. Mapetho, 3.Mahashe, 47. Kgaswane, 6. Shaku(C), 46. Madubanya (Chauke 57'), 5. Ravhuhali, 28. Letsoalo (Kunene), 12. Matloga, 32. Motshegwa (Moeti 75'), 49. Matlakala

Chiefs XI: 32. Khune(C), 2. Mphahlele, 3. Mathoho, 4. Cardoso, 24. Masilela, 31. Katsande, 23. Molangoane (Lebese 75'), 35. Baloyi, 14. Tshabalala, 11. Chirambadare (Twala 68'), 25. Parker (Paez 71')

The Computer said it all " you can't build a house with cheap material", a statement that cannot be disputed. You start with the quality of the builder himself who has no record of winning a cup of tea in a lucky packet. Foreign players were hand-picked at the labour market in Zimbabwe and Zambia and Mozambique. Locally, we get spoils from Sundowns, Bloemfontein Celtics, Supersport United and other clubs. With this combination, we expect good results. WHAT A SHAM!

Lucky Baloyi and his coach are a liability to Kaizer Chiefs. Myopic and stupid. Anyway, Chiefs is not ours, it has its owners.
