Mahlambi Spotted At Airport, Ahly Move Draws Close

Mahlambi Spotted At Airport, Ahly Move Draws Close

By Soccer Laduma - Sep 06, 2017 08:35 PM
Bidvest Wits starlet, Phakamani Mahlambi, looks to be drawing closer to a move to Egyptian giants, Al Ahly, with the player set to jet out to Cairo later this evening.

The Siya crew reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma that Ahly were racing against time to try and secure the teen sensation’s signature before tomorrow night’s deadline for foreign players, and it appears they have made some headway in the last 24 hours.

According to Siya sources, the 19-year-old was spotted at the airport this evening with his agent, Glyn Binkin, suggesting that the Clever Boys have agreed a fee regarding his transfer.

There have been reports in Egypt that the deal has already been completed – for a fee of around $1.3m (R17m) although the crew has been reliably informed that this is not yet the case.

If a fee has been agreed, all that remains for Mahlambi to do once in Cairo is finalise personal terms and pass a medical, something that eight-time African champions will be hoping to get done before the deadline passes.

The problem is that Egyptian teams does not just sell to European teams. However if he becomes the star of the team then they can loan him now and again to a European big team. And he will be paid a good salary in Egypt and compete among the best in the continent.

With news that Phaka has penned a five-year-deal with the Egyptians, I'm happy for him. It may not seem like a 'dream move', but it's a good challenge for him. Yes he failed in Portugal, but didn't look back instead pushed for a move elsewhere. Unlike others who'd rather chop and changes teams instead of moving when the time allows. This is why most people say SA players are not cut out for Europe coz they are afraid of challenges that come with playin abroad. As for Phaka, good luck boy! One day o tla be o bapala in Europe.....copy this!

@salathiso, thank you my friend, that is one of the reasons he should have considered before committing himself. I don't understand why some fellow bloggers are so blind to see these things.
