Billiat Undecided Over Sundowns Future

Khama Billiat's Future At Mamelodi Sundowns Is Still In Question

By Soccer Laduma - Mar 16, 2017 05:30 PM
Khama Billiat has arguably been Mamelodi Sundowns’ most important player throughout their recent success, but his future may lie away from Chloorkop.

The reigning Absa Premiership Player of the Year is currently nursing an injury that has seen him sidelined since mid-February, and is once again set to miss out when his side travel to Uganda for this weekend’s CAF Champions League clash with KCCA.

Billiat, 26, played a crucial role as the Brazilians triumphed on home soil and on the continent in 2016, and the club are desperate for him to sign a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club for years to come.

However, with the Zimbabwean harbouring ambitions of playing overseas, the Siya crew is led to believe that he is currently weighing up his options before putting pen to paper on a new contract.

As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, the player – who has a €2.5m buyout clause – is undecided about whether he wants to sign a new deal, or whether it is worth seeing out his contract and trying to gain a move as a free agent when his deal expires at the end of next season.

Sundowns have been smart to open up talks with Billiat early, with over 15 months left on his current contract, and they will be hoping that the time left will give them time to persuade him that remaining with the club is his best option.

If oversees club can buy him then he needs to go there no such thing as too late or too early, we will never know till he makes the move then we will comment on the past (that the moved he made was a blunder) as for the future we cant say know he not ready (as the future is not set yet) lets stop holding people back, I SAY GO FOR IT

Firstly I just want to agree with those that say Billiat is a Sunflops player period. Secondly I still believe that he is only good for PSL cause you can that when he was playing for his country he was just average like the rest of his southern Africans.Another thing that I'll advice him about is that he needs to stay at Sunflops until his contract runs out because there is no European team that is going to pay R40m for an average player like him. As for any other team in SA they just have to forget about ever taking him away from Sunflops. One last thing I think Sunflops have their famous 2 year option embedded in that contract so he is going to be there for a foreseeable future.
