Serero’s Ajax Nightmare Coming To An End
Thulani Serero's Ajax Amsterdam Career Is Almost At An End
While his club takes aim at the UEFA Europa League final, a certain Thulani Serero will be counting down the days until the end of the season and the chance to leave the club.
Serero has had a horror 2016/17 season with Ajax Amsterdam after they demoted him to the reserves and gave his squad number to the teenager, Kasper Dolberg.
While Dolberg went on to win the Young Player of the Year award, ‘Cream’ played a handful of games for Jong Ajax and has actually played more matches for Bafana Bafana (six) over the last 12 months than he has at club level (five).
The 27-year-old will be eager to see his days at Ajax come to an end from a footballing point of view and although he enjoyed several happy moments, winning many trophies during his time there, it is obvious that the time has come to move on.
Serero has been regularly linked with a return to the Absa Premiership since his absence at Ajax became a regular thing and the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are all known to be keeping a close eye on his situation.
While the Bafana Bafana international is keen to remain in Europe as his first choice, he may be tempted to make the switch back to Mzansi if a club manages to offer a contract that would be too good to turn down.
The midfielder is on big money in Holland at present and his wages would prove to be the biggest stumbling block with regards to a return to the Absa Premiership.
