Serero: Why I Joined Vitesse
Thulani Serero Has Explained Why He Joined Vitesse Arnhem This Week
Vitesse Arnhem’s new South African midfielder, Thulani Serero, has explained why he decided to join the club after his departure from Ajax Amsterdam.
The 27-year-old will see a difficult spell with Ajax come to an end on July 1st once his new deal at Vitesse kicks in and he will be eager to get off to a good start to life under head coach, Thomas Bruns.
‘Cream’ wasn’t registered with Ajax last season as they opted to play several youngsters from their academy, but has been snapped up because of his experience of playing continental football with the Dutch giants during his six-year spell there.
Now, following his decision to sign a three-year deal with Vitesse, the Bafana Bafana international has explained that playing in the Europa League was a draw card for him after his new team won the KNVB Cup last year.
He told the club’s official website following the finalisation of his contract, “After a good period at Ajax where I played a lot, after a disappointing time where I was not a player who was playing on a weekly basis.
“Now that my contract in Amsterdam has finished it is time for a new club. Vitesse are known as a good football team, and last year I watched them win the cup. I feel that my qualities will fit in perfectly with the way Vitesse play, and playing in the Europa League is a great challenge for me.”
Vitesse’s first game of the new season will be against Feyenoord in the Dutch Super Cup on August 5th.
