Result: Sunshine Stars 3-0 Heartland

Date: 03 May 2015

Tunde Adeniji's excellent brace capped an impressive 3-0 win for Sunshine Stars over Heartland and offered the perfect response to those who have questioned the Akure Gunners' title credentials.

The hosts who led the Nigeria Professional Football League table before match day lost their three third game of the season.

By the time Prince Aggrey had turned home the third goal late in the game, Sunshine Stars were well on their way to a routine victory.

The main concern for Sunshine had always been their away form. But they were helped on Sunday by a Heartland team that offered little ambition and limited resistance.

Heartland boss Erasmus Onuh suffered a miserable loss against a club he managed on a short term basis in the 2013/14 season.

With the midfielders dictating play and spraying passes, Adeniji made a bug difference.

Sunshine Stars were dominating possession - they had 61% of the ball - and with Heartland defending deep in their own half, more goals seemed just a matter of time.

Adeniji put Sunshine Stars scored the first goal of the match in the 43rd minute. He collected the ball from a resultant Heartland corner and went on a solo run before putting the ball beyond goalkeeper David Obiazo.

Nelson Ogbonnaya was issued a red card twelve minutes into the second half and Sunshine Stars continued to run riot against the clueless homers.

The Flying Eagles invitee all but secured the three points after 62 minutes when he powered home after Obiazo spilled a goal bound shot to his path.

Aggrey made sure of victory late in the second half, as he capitalised on a poor defending by the homers.
