Mark Williams On George Lebese And Predictions For Kaizer Chiefs’ Nedbank Clash
Bafana Bafana legend, Mark Williams, has given his thoughts on a Kaizer Chiefs’ winger regaining his form and shared his expectations ahead of Amakhosi’s Nedbank Cup clash.
The Soweto giants will welcome SuperSport United to the FNB Stadium, where the two sides will lock horns in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup competition.
The last time Head Coach Stuart Baxter’s side travelled to Amakhosi’s home ground was in a league clash last year, November 23, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
George Lebese was the player to get on the scoresheet for Chiefs on the day but struggled to find consistent form thereafter.
However, it appears that the 28-year-old has come back into the fold, after he brought roars and smiles to the supporters when he scored the match-winning goal in an Absa Premiership encounter against Chippa United last weekend, April 15.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma about Lebese, Williams said, “With George Lebese scoring that goal, he has got that confidence back. He is one player that I thought has drifted away this season. Now, he is coming back and full of confidence, is Coach Steve going to play him? I think they will play him because the crowd loves him.”
The 50-year-old then went on to reveal what he is expecting from tomorrow’s Nedbank Cup quarterfinal encounter.
“Playing Chiefs at FNB Stadium, I think it is going to be packed. Against a SuperSport team they can’t defend, they need to go out there and say listen guys, this is the last cup, let’s give Chiefs a run for it. But I think for me, I think Chiefs will go through.”
“Basically, I see it going in to extra-time and penalties, if it goes into penalties, I think Chiefs will go through, they’ve just got that luck. Against Chiefs, the crowd is going to be on your head during those penalties,” he concluded.
