Marumo: It Will Be Interesting To See Vila & Pelembe

Simba Marumo Plays Up Return Of Stars In MTN8 Final

By Soccer Laduma - Oct 01, 2016 11:29 AM

Mamelodi Sundowns legend, Simba Marumo, has said that Sibusiso Vilakazi’s and Elias Pelembe’s return against their former clubs will an interesting sub-plot in today’s MTN8 final.

Hunt: Sundowns Are Doing Well But...

Vilakazi ended a seven-year spell with the Students when he joined Sundowns during the off-season, while Pelembe concluded his six-year spell with the Brazilians to complete a move to Wits on a free. Sundowns’ CAF Champions League finalist in 2001, Marumo, has played up the prospect of how each player will perform in the MTN8 final today.

“It will be interesting to see how (Elias) Pelembe plays, after he moved from Sundowns to Wits, as well as Sibusiso Vilakazi, who went the other way,” Marumo told Soccer Laduma.

Marumo went on to say that the game will be decided in the midfield and that he’s ready for a thrilling encounter.

“With regards to the final, the main thing is the battle in the midfield and this is where, on the day, the team that’s on form on the day can win the game,” he continued. “But what’s obviously important as well is who can finish their chances. The two teams are playing incredible and are probably the best teams in the country right now. So we’re going to have an absolute thriller in that respect and I really look forward to the game.”

The former Bafana Bafana player went on to say that the former Maritzburg United coach appears to have lost control over his team and that he hasn’t inspired them to play at a standard appropriate to the Soweto giants’ expectations. “From my point of view, you can say that Steve hasn’t got control of the situation,” he continued. “I think maybe there’s more to it, or that he can only identify the problem. “But you can see it clearly when the team goes out that there’s no spirit, there’s no proper direction in terms of their wing-backs trying to create with crosses or any of that.”
