Manchester United new boy Romelu Lukaku is expected to wear the famous No.9 jersey next season and today we take a look at 12 others who wore the famous number for the Red Devils.

According to Manchester United’s official website all the players mentioned have worn the number during their time, and some were certainly more successful than others.
The most famous player to wear the No. 9 at Old Trafford is probably Sir Bobby Charlton. The 79-year-old, who survived the Munich Air disaster, was part of the famous Busby Babes that dominated Europe during the 60’s under Sir Matt Busby.
Andy Cole was another memorable star who wore famous number down the line. The Nottingham born striker was an established goalscorer by the time he arrived at the club and formed a deadly partnership with Dwight Yorke in the mid-90s, which saw the club win the treble in 1998/1999 season.
In 2008, the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov got everyone around the club hyped up, as many compared him to the great Eric Cantona at the time. The Bulgarian helped the English giants lift their 19th league title in the 2010/11 season and also finished top goalscorer with teammate Carlos Tevez.
Others who wore the jersey were Tommy Taylor, Stuart Pearson, Joe Jordan, Frank Stapleton, Brian McClair, Louis Saha, Falcao, Anthony Martial and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
