FRIDAY SOCCOW DUST

Slowly but surely the league and the nedbank cup, the most important of the 4 cups, are inching to a close. Bloggers are wishing for particular teams to win the both cups, I got no issues with that.

My question is, how many know that winning them isn't the ultimate goal but rather a password to bigger things? What is the use in teams like Wits & Chiefs winning them if they despise the safari? It shows short sightedness to win them and treat them as their destiny. Pure DUST.

@angam: Winning the league is like passing matric or finishing at varsity, it is a password to bigger and better things. If after finishing there you don't go any further, then you are short sighted. You should move forward and strive to be counted among the best, not like Qhaf-Qhaf who just passed form five and went about smoking pot, getting married and divorcing like there is no tomorrow. That is short sightedness!

@Soccow Cowmments , you say that wining the league is not the altimate goal which is what I'm disputing. if one has no ambitions beyond that then they should not be cast out as shortsighted cause everyone has a right to decide where and what their destiny should be

Overall I was bit impressed how we fare against Vita even though we were bombed out, the positivity was clearly there and hunger especially ka second leg, 3 goals deficit was too much, Vita keeper in my view destabilize us by literally falling down constantly and Musona injury killed us...sometimes luck play huge part in soccer results..just off ramping with that two legged game a bit

@taf-taf, were they serious about champions league second tier cup when they send a clear second team to Abidjan with one reserve..but then again I know this post is too complex for you or too heavy for you

@Soccow Cowmments agreed and I hope management could view such like us and I wish they can such positivity in players mind instead they said to them don't take CCC serious by sending second team to Abidjan

@angam: You are missing the point. Winning the league isn't short sightedness, failing to act positively on the bonus gotten is! How positive is it to be a shark locally but a sardine continentally?

I doubt if winning these most important trophies (locally) is the ultimate goal for the concerned teams(esp Kc).And Also don't believe that they think less of the safari.I believe they take caf tourneys seriuos its just that their best happens not to be good enough when it matters.

Qhaf-Qhaf: What are you saying exactly? Nascimento, Nthethe, Bangaly, Madisha are first team players but aren't rated the same. The same goes for Modise, Mabunda, Kekana and or Morena, Nconca etc. Chiefs are Pirates' proteges but their uselessness has nothing to do with the men officiating. It has everything to do with their office and players.

one has the right to choose their destination, it is not up to any individual to dictate what ones destiny should be based on their own expectations. wining the league is an altimate goal for any team in any league, what happens after that is simply a bonus, so let's not because we've done well in the past downplay the importance of winning the league or call it short sightedness.

When your club is hopeless that it won't win Champions League Cup because no referees knows / cares about you don't lie that you sent second tier cause all 53 players Chimps have are first tier ,

@Molane: A clear sign of short sightedness as the following season Chiefs met Zakri and Asec in CCL and dumped them out. Had they been serious then they could've learnt something worthwhile for the following season. CCC should be taken seriously as a cup where players are developed for CCL, don't you think?

@Soccow Cowmments I hear you, my point is Chiefs take champions league seriously but clearly they don't want to partake in champions league second tier cup, remember when we bombed of champions league and sent second team to champions league second tier cup in Confederation cup, in my view that was clear indication that they don't want to partake in it

@Molane: For 3 years in a row Chiefs partook in the safari with nothing to write home about as your management is snoring when it comes to the safari. I know not what informs your decision that they take it for granted. For a change the route to the group stages is shorter but the remuneration better. @zmvuyo: spot on you are.

On that note, I wish our management can really start to include safari in their bigger plans of every season..it's crystal clear that they don't take it seriously after they send second tier team to Abidjan, perhaps they eye champions league but definitely not champions league second tier cup

Any Gavin Hunt-led team winning the league is a wasted opportunity for SA football to advance. As for Chiefs, it's like taking one step forward and then ten steps backwards. These two teams winning the league or the national cup is just for their bank accounts .
